The people behind the comparisons

Meet the Aussie Play Axis Team

Good gaming guides start with useful questions. What can you play, how easy is it to find something you enjoy, and what should you check before signing up? Our editorial team brings research, clear writing and a reader’s perspective to those questions.

Aussie Play Axis is an Australian editorial guide to digital entertainment. We explain third-party gaming platforms so you can make your own choices. We do not operate the platforms we feature or provide real-money wagering services.

Meet the editors

Different interests, a shared purpose

The people shaping the guide

Our editorial roles connect platform information with everyday browsing decisions. Each person looks at a different part of the experience, then shares questions with the others before a comparison is ready to publish.

Mia Lawson

Editorial lead

Mia turns research notes into comparisons that are easy to follow. Her interest in strategy games shapes the questions she asks about genre variety, learning curves and how clearly a platform explains its catalogue. She looks for descriptions that help readers distinguish a quick puzzle session from a longer, more involved game.

She also reviews corrections and checks that conclusions match the information behind them. When a description sounds too broad, Mia asks for a clearer example or a narrower claim. Her priority is a guide that explains trade-offs without treating one player’s preferences as everyone’s priorities.

Daniel Chen

Platform researcher

Daniel follows official feature descriptions, game categories and regional availability. He enjoys exploring how different catalogues organise casual, adventure and multiplayer games. For each platform, he looks at public help pages and published terms to understand what Australian readers should check before using the service.

His notes distinguish advertised features from observations the team can support. Availability, device requirements and account conditions can change, so Daniel records the relevant source and the context of a claim. If an official description is ambiguous, he flags the question for editorial review rather than turning it into a confident recommendation.

Sophie Reid

Reader experience editor

Sophie reviews navigation, mobile readability and reader feedback. She is interested in the small decisions that make a guide easier to use: descriptive headings, understandable links and information placed where a reader expects to find it. She checks whether a comparison still makes sense when someone is browsing on a small screen.

Reader questions help Sophie identify explanations that need more context. She looks for unfamiliar terms, dense paragraphs and recommendations that leave practical questions unanswered. Her feedback brings the team back to the reader’s task: finding a suitable place to explore games without having to decipher promotional language.

From a source to a useful explanation

How our editorial work fits together

Research begins with official public information. We compare platforms using consistent criteria, including content variety, navigation, accessibility, platform features and overall user experience. Daniel gathers the details, Mia reviews the comparison and Sophie checks whether the explanation is useful to a reader.

We plan a quarterly review of published guides and bring checks forward when readers report a meaningful change. A changed catalogue, revised terms or an unavailable feature can prompt an earlier update. Correction requests help us prioritise the passages most likely to affect a browsing decision.

We separate affiliate disclosures from editorial judgements. A commercial link does not replace the need to explain a platform’s strengths and limitations. Readers should be able to understand the basis of a comparison and recognise when they are leaving our guide for a third-party service.

Our coverage combines public-source research with editorial review; it does not mean every game has been played or every device tested. Before choosing a service, check its current official information, age requirements and terms. Those details remain the platform’s responsibility and may change after our review.
